Bellucci joins all-star cast in political thriller
The Whistleblower exposes a UN sex-trafficking cover-up in post-war Bosnia

Monica Bellucci is joining Rachel Weisz, Vanessa Redgrave (an Oscar winner in 1978 and an Emmy winner in 2000) and David Strathairn in the fight against sex trafficking: she’s been added to the cast of The Whistleblower – a Canadian co-production – directed by Ukrainian Larysa Kondracki.
Based on a true story, Weisz plays a Nebraska cop serving as a peackeeper in post-war Bosnia. While on the job, she discovers that the United Nations has been covering up a sex-trafficking scandal, and exposes it. Weisz (who won an Oscar in 2006 for The Constant Gardner) is fired after she finds out UN soldiers are also involved in human trafficking. No word yet on how Bellucci fits in, but she’d be sort of wasted as a cop. Maybe she’ll be trafficked. u
The Whistleblower starts shooting at various locations in Bucharest, Rumania on Oct. 26.
