Watertown Sons of Italy Distributes Nearly $10,000 to Scholarships and Charities


This month, the Watertown Sons of Italy Lodge Piave Fiume #1036, an affiliate Lodge of the National Order Sons of Italy in America, distributed nearly $10,000 to deserving high school graduates and local charities. These donations were made possible by the on­going fundraising efforts by the Sons of Italy throughout the year, including funds generated by the yearly motorcycle ride, the Boston Strong ­Watertown Strong Bike Ride, to honor the victims and first responders from the Boston Marathon bombings. From May 19-22, the Brookline Rotary Club hosted a team of young professionals from Venice, Italy, as part of a Rotary International Exchange Program. Five professionals from the Venice area stayed with members of the Brookline Rotary Club, learning about American lifestyle and culture and meeting with their professional counterparts.
