Pirandello Lyceum Boston I Migliori Awards

The Pirandello Lyceum held its 28th annual I Migliori in Mens et Gesta awards gala at Boston’s Harborside Hotel on April 6. Recognizing several outstanding Americans of Italian descent, the event also raised money to fund a number of $1,500 scholarships to college-bound students. This year’s awardees included jazz musician and educator Sabato “Tino” D’Agostino, who is also instrumental director at Arlington High School and founder of the Musica Vesuviana festival in Salerno; Governor’s Councilor Marilyn Petitto Devaney, the first Italian-American woman elected to the position and a former Watertown Councilor-at-large; real estate investor Frank Pasciuto, who among other things ...

Friends of the Italian Cultural Center in Boston Charity Launched


Six months after hosting its first successful fundraising event “italianissimo!,” the Public Charity “Friends of the Italian Cultural Center of Boston/FICCB” was launched in December 2012 with the aim of creating a Center of Italian Culture in Boston and to ensure its management and operation once it opens. Italian Police Visits Boston

A group of Italian police officers recently visited Boston as part of a two-week work trip on the East Coast. “It’s a tradition we’ve been carrying on since 1997,” said Alberto Caracciolo, a deputy officer based in Florence who has been organizing the Italian police visits for the past several years. For 15 years, a rotating group of officers has taken part in the Columbus Day festivities in New York and New Jersey, and since 2011 the group has extended its stay to include a trip to the Greater Boston area.
