Stephen Ross Receives Award From Italian American Heritage Month Committee

On August 27, 2015, the Italian American Heritage Month Committee presented Stephen Ross the Italian American Heritage Month Award for community service and leadership. The award was presented by Vice President Sal Bramante. Ross is president of Clear Channel Outdoor, Boston Division, a division of Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc., one of the world’s largest outdoor advertising companies.

The Appian Club Of Stoneham Will Host Italian Classes

The Appian Club of Stoneham will be hosting Italian classes for adults and children starting in September. Adult classes will start Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Classes are about ninety minutes long and run eight weeks. Children’s classes will start Saturday, September 19, 2015. Classes will be one hour long and last twenty weeks. Children must be at least 6 years old to attend. The Appian club is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating others about Italian culture and heritage. The Italian-American Cultural Organization To Have First Meeting Of The Season


The IACO will be hosting its first meeting of the season on September 14, 2015. The meeting will take place at the Grove Manor in Braintree, MA at 7:00 PM. On Wednesday,, Aug. 19, the Boston College women’s basketball team visited Martina Mosetti’s hometown of Trieste, which is in Northern Italy along the Adriatic Sea. It was a happy family reunion as her sister Mariana and brother Luca as well as Marti’s grandfather and grandmother, along with her parents — Andreas and Silvia greeted the travel party at the bus stop. Mary Menna becomes VP/Market Manager for Greater Media Boston


Station group owner Greater Media says Rob Williams is leaving his position as vice president and market manager of the company’s Boston radio properties. His last day will be Friday, Aug. 21. He will be replaced by Mary Menna. Local jewelry artist, Liza Lentini, donated 1,000 new pieces of jewelry to raise awareness for domestic violence. she is donating her work in order to help those affected by domestic violence. She has created a campaign called “A Thousand for a Thousand.” She hopes other artists will join her campaign for this worthy cause. The Dante Aligheri Society will be hosting an open house for their Fall Trimester Language Courses. The open house will be on September 3, 2015 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at their Cambridge location. Joe DiCunzolo, owner of Boston Marine Transport Inc., displayed the company’s newly purchased oil barge, NY 30. He also displayed a newly renovated tug boat, named the Pinuccia. They were exhibited in Boston Harbor last week. The NY 30 took a little over a year to build, and the tug boat was recently renovated. East Boston Savings Bank provided over $5 million to finance these projects. CEO and Chairman of EBSB, Richard Gavengnano, said: “EBSB continues to make advances in our efforts to deliver substantial loans and create a more efficient and succinct lending process for customers.”

The Order Sons of Italy in America hosted The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts’ 101st State Convention from June 11 to June 14. This year, the annual convention took place at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Many attended the event, including the organization’s newly elected officers. Among the officials was new State President Antonio Sestito. Two outstanding, committed members were awarded at the convention.
