This weekend, Brookline-based Bottega Fiorentina will open the doors to a new Newton outpost.
On June 5, starting at 11 a.m., launch-day patrons will be able to drink free espresso or enjoy the regular Sunday and Wednesday special, pasta with any of over fifteen sauces for $4.99. Additionally, the regular fare will include a wide array of insalate, panini, antipasti, and gelati.
This new location is the product of over one year’s preparation by Florentine owners Andrea and Cristina Ferrini, including construction of the interior and obtaining requisite approvals by the city. The menu will be the same as the original restaurant and grocery.
The Brookline restaurant’s success can be partly ascribed to Andrea’s unwillingness to compromise his cuisine’s authenticity. In spite of restaurant-goers’ desire for spaghetti with meatballs and other Italian-American inventions, he previously told Corrieretandem, he has prided himself on not making “what people think is regular Italian food.” Instead, the Bottega’s offerings have been simple and genuine, a reflection of Andrea’s life in Florence.
Striking the balance between intimacy and communality, the Bottega will feature 16 seats, a picnic table, and a window counter. Diners are encouraged to come and enjoy not only the food, but also the friendly atmosphere that the Ferrinis have worked to cultivate.
