After 40 Years, Roma’s Bakery in Woburn Still Going Strong


More than 4,000 miles separate Woburn from the Italian town of Gaeta. But there seems to be no distance between the baking customs of Gaetano Cafaro’s birthplace and the Boston suburb he has called home for over 40 years. Just before Easter, when we went to visit Roma’s Bakery on 312 Main Street, the shop was full of the season’s typical Italian specialties. Many of them, like struffoli and casatielli, are characteristic of the Naples area just a few miles south of Gaeta.
